Audit & Risk Committee Member

We are looking for a volunteer to support Stoll’s governance through their expertise in Audit and Risk Management. This volunteer position involves attending four annual meetings of the Audit + Risk (A+R) Committee, held on week days (usually Thursdays and Fridays). You will provide support to the Chair of the A+R Committee and work with the other Members of the Committee and the Stoll Executive to advise the Board on all matters concerning audit and risk.

The main responsibilities of the A+R Committee include:

  • Reviewing Stoll’s financial procedures and accounting policies.
  • Reviewing Stoll’s regulatory compliance reports and policies.
  • Reviewing Stoll’s draft Trustees’ Report and Accounts and other subsidiary financial statements.
  • Appointing and deciding the terms of engagement for Stoll’s internal and external auditors.
  • A level of scrutiny of value for money, working closely with the Finance Committee
  • Discussing the main risks facing Stoll, reviewing Stoll’s Risk Map and considering the risk associated with any significant new opportunities that Stoll is pursuing.
  • Looking at the best ways of evaluating Stoll’s performance.
  • Ensuring that the necessary arrangements are in place for following up on any “whistle blowing” allegations.
  • Receiving a quarterly update on fraud, complaints and litigation.
  • Reviewing Stoll’s contingency planning arrangements and disaster recovery plans.

Please note, as there is also a finance committee, A+R is not primarily responsible for all accounting functions.

Committee Membership is the conduit to Trustee Board Membership dependent on the skills needed on the Board.

Expenses are paid and training is provided to support the role according to need.
