Stoll Veterans share their story with UNILAD
On Armed Forces Day, Stoll had the privilege of introducing UNILAD to three Stoll Veterans. Each Veteran shared some of their experience in the forces and transition back into civilian life coping with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, as well as the support that Stoll has offered them during this time.
Tom, of the parachute clearing troops, recalled his tour of the Falklands in the resuscitation team: “It’s beyond description how exhausting working 11 days without seeing your bed is, surviving on 30 cigarettes a day and five litres of coffee. It was physically and mentally draining. In four-and-a-half weeks 774 casualties came through my team.
When I came home, the only thing I wanted to do was not be at home with my wife, but be back lying in a ditch or a derelict house or woodland in an ambush. It took me more than a year to come through that.”
Stoll provides affordable, high-quality housing and support services to over 600 Veterans each year. Stoll can work with ex-Servicemen and women from 6 months prior to discharge from Service. Our mission is to enable Vulnerable Veterans to lead fulfilling, independent lives.
