Stoll CEO invites Local Authorities to support No Homeless Veterans campaign

As the No Homeless Veterans campaign launches, Ed Tytherleigh, CEO of veterans’ housing charity Stoll, has sent a letter to every Local Authority in the country inviting them to support the campaign and help ensure no veteran ends up homeless.

Dear Sir or Madam,

Re: The No Homeless Veterans Campaign.

A nationwide campaign launches on Tuesday 24th September that is attempting to reduce veterans’ homelessness as close to zero as possible. We are asking for your support to reach this eminently achievable goal.

The campaign, No Homeless Veterans, offers frontline housing staff training, resources and support to help them identify veterans in housing need and channel them through to appropriate support as quickly as possible. In order to do this, we are offering a range of resources, including:

1.     A toolkit, developed in collaboration with The Royal British Legion, enclosed with this letter.

2.     A range of information and support both in paper and online at www.nohomelessveterans.org.uk.

3.     Face-to-face training to all local authority staff.

We would like to come and brief your team and frontline staff about the campaign and empower them with the knowledge and resources to ensure that your Local Authority can ‘do your bit’ to meet the Military Covenant and reduce veterans’ homelessness.

The campaign is being launched by the Cobseo Housing Cluster, a consortium of charities that provides housing and support to homeless veterans, and is funded by the Forces in Mind Trust. The campaign is not about additional money or resources, it is simply about highlighting the needs of homeless veterans and providing local authorities with the tools to respond to them effectively.

I have enclosed with this letter a leaflet highlighting the easy steps that housing staff can take to “Think Veteran”.  Please share this with colleagues.  Please also follow the campaign on social media using the Twitter handle @ThinkVeteran. We are also on LinkedIn under the name No Homeless Veterans.  Or even better we are looking for quotes of support from staff.  Please get in touch if you would like to pledge your support in this way.

Please contact us by email at info@nohomelessveterans.org.uk to arrange a briefing, to offer support, or if you would like any further resources. I hope you will join us in working together to ensure that no veteran has to experience homelessness for a day longer than is necessary.

Yours sincerely,

Ed Tytherleigh
