Stoll CEO welcomes Prime Minister’s new measures to end rough sleeping.

The Prime Minister has announced an extra £236 million to end rough sleeping, and has appointed an independent adviser to lead an urgent review into the causes of homelessness.

In response to the news, Ed Tytherleigh, Co-Chair of the Cobseo Housing Cluster, said:

“We welcome the government’s increasing focus on homelessness to address the rising numbers of rough sleepers overall. In the veterans’ sector there is more positive news and we are seeing fewer reported cases of homelessness. That is because as a sector, led by the No Homeless Veterans campaign, we are tackling the causes of homelessness and providing support wherever possible before a crisis is triggered. We are briefing 100 Local Authorities ensuring they identify veterans and refer them to appropriate housing support.

“There are a range of initiatives launched by the Cobseo Housing Cluster that can help Local Authorities ensure veterans have appropriate housing. It is definitely achievable to reduce homelessness among veterans very close to zero.”
