Veterans’ Voices: 100 Years of Housing Heroes
Veterans’ Voices: 100 Years of Housing Heroes is a 2.5 year project funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund to explore and celebrate the heritage of The Stoll Foundation.

The Stoll Foundation, which is the leading provider of supported housing to vulnerable veterans, has been awarded £172,438 to run Veterans’ Voices: 100 Years of Housing Heroes, a 2.5-year project exploring the charity’s rich heritage. The project, which runs from December 2025 – May 2028, will explore the history of the housing charity in Fulham, London founded in 1916 by theatre impresario Sir Oswald Stoll to support severely disabled soldiers as they returned home from the front lines of WWI.
The Veterans’ Voices project will offer The Stoll Foundation residents and members of the local community opportunities to explore archives, learn heritage skills and take part in creative workshops, walking tours and more. Veterans’ Voices will culminate in an exhibition of never seen before archival material and work produced during the project in 2028. The project is actively recruiting volunteers from the local community and from within its own residents, who are encouraged to express their interest by emailing heritage@stoll.org.uk.
The Veterans’ Voices project aims to:
- Preserve the heritage and stories associated with The Stoll Foundation as they face risks due to our upcoming move.
- Improve the wellbeing of our beneficiaries during a turbulent time, while teaching key heritage skills and providing new opportunities.
- Creating a sense of place at our new build development by exploring the lost and forgotten heritage of the area and easing the transition of the move.
- Build lasting connections with the local community (both civilian and veteran) while increasing awareness of veterans’ issues.
This page will be regularly updated with events and opportunities from March 2025.

The National Lottery Heritage Fund is the largest funder for the UK’s heritage. Using money raised by National Lottery players we support projects that connect people and communities to heritage. Our vision is for heritage to be valued, cared for and sustained for everyone, now and in the future. From historic buildings, our industrial legacy and the natural environment, to collections, traditions, stories and more. Heritage can be anything from the past that people value and want to pass on to future generations. We believe in the power of heritage to ignite the imagination, offer joy and inspiration, and to build pride in place and connection to the past.
